06:05 PM ET 05.13 | Former Florida Gators quarterback Chris Leak is returning to his alma mater -- he has been hired as a quality control assistant. Leak led the Gators to the BCS national championship as senior, and after going unselected in the 2007 NFL Draft, he played professionally in the CFL and Arena Football League. He last played for the AFL's Orlando Predators in 2012 before deciding to hang it up and move on to a career off the field. This is his first coaching job.

Oh that's what I figured. Just tired of so many folks (not you) that continue to think it was TT that won that national title for the Gators.

I do believe TT was behind center for the SEC CCG loss...

This one doesn't.

Leak never got enough credit for what he did that year. All he did was everything the coaches asked of him. Remember, he was basically a dropback passer on a team with an incoming coach that ran the spread. To win an MNC in that general situation ain't easy. I have TONS of respect for Chris Leak.

I am not real certain what a Quality Control Assistant does, but I appreciate Mus and Darth Foley bringing in a guy with Gator cred/accomplishments. I like to see a program that stays in touch with past players and gives them chances to continue associating with the current roster of players.

It's the starting point for coaches. Sort of like the assistant to the assistant coach. I don't know if they have limits on numbers, but definitly on roles and responsibilities. When Rich Rod got in trouble for supervised summer practices, it was the QC guys who were taking attendance at the voluntary summer drills. Definite no-no.

According to the Gainesville Sun, he'll be doing alot of office-based stuff, mainly film breakdown, and will not be on the practice field.

I would guess some reps of bagstuffing would be good for the guy, too. ;-)

He will spend the summer tutoring and working with the QBs. Count on it. He's not a coach and is therefore not limited.

QC staff are indeed limited. They cannot coach during the non contact period.

It doesn't sound very glamorous. I guess he has to start somewhere.
