01:25 AM ET 05.15 | A report surfaced early Tuesday that free-agent linebacker Brian Urlacher was leaning toward signing with the Minnesota Vikings. Apparently that is not the case at all. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported Tuesday on "NFL Total Access" that the Vikings plan to give in-house roster options the opportunity to compete at inside linebacker "barring unforeseen circumstances." The current plan is to move forward without Urlacher, who has not been discussed in staff meetings, according to Rapoport. The Vikings have shifted Erin Henderson inside with the hope the veteran will take to the role. Somebody is telling lies here, or at least blowing smoke to media outlets. Hopefully some clarification will come soon.

"In-house roster options?" Does that mean they also have "outhouse roster options."

Maybe they need a new stadium after all.

OK, I admit it. I started the rumor about Urlacher and the Vikings. We were having a few, and I said it would be funny to see him in purple and the guy I told must have told another guy and before you know it, it makes it to T&R.

Americans are easily fooled by those who speak eloquently and have a mastery of the facts. Unfortunately, some of our leaders have their facts on teleprompters and the information doesn't sink in twixt eyes and mouth. They are merely a conduit.

Fifty is the real McCoy, and the interns would do well to hang on his every word.

I thought the Vikings were legally bound to take all NFC North castoffs. Kind of like animal shelters and such.

Part of the deal they worked out for the stadium?

Deal with the legislative Devils, they take your soul and your wallet, and leave you with old football players.

The got a good season in the Faustian (Favreian?) bargain, though.

The chances that Urlacher signs with Minnesota are the same that T.O. joins the professional bowler's tour......Oh, wait
