07:10 AM ET 05.15 | When the Giants arrived in Toronto, they did so bearing gifts for Melky Cabrera. Ryan Vogelsong was the first Giant to walk over and embrace [Cabrera] in between his rounds of batting practice. Gregor Blanco soon followed. Members of the coaching staff shook his hand and smiled. ... Bygones can be bygones when everyone owns a World Series ring, it seems. And now Cabrera owns one, too. Giants manager Bruce Bochy presented the four-month sensation turned disgraced outfielder with the signature baby blue Tiffany bag. The exchange was made where lenses and note pads couldn't go, in a tunnel between the two clubhouses -- a private affair, which is what Cabrera wanted.

I guess it was his to have and it was the right thing to do but I hope he realizes he is lucky to have that ring.

Melky claimed the Giants wanted it to be private and the Giants said that wasn't the case, it was his choice...some people just can't tell the truth even when it really doesn't matter.

reminds of some words I heard a long time ago about people in the beginnings of recovery: The first words out of your mouth are a lie when the truth would serve you better.

This one rule I wish baseball would change- if a player is on a team, traded, or release he still gets a World Series ring.

I think this is at the discretion of the team...I know World Series shares were voted on by the players ages ago, not sure if that's still true. There was a big brouhaha in the '32 WS because former Yankee Mark Koenig was not voted a full WS share as a member of the Cubs since he only played a small portion of the season with them and was injured for the WS.

He refuses to even talk to the SanFran press. Maybe it is better, the truth does elude him it seems.

Too bad he wasn't embarassed enough to decline the ring completely.
