Blue line thinning at wrong time for Bruins

07:19 AM ET 05.15 | When the Bruins take to ice for Game 1 against the Rangers on Thursday, their defense corps might have a very different look than many expected entering the playoffs. Matt Bartkowski and Dougie Hamilton had to plug back in at the start against the Maple Leafs to make up for the injuries to Andrew Ference and Wade Redden. One day after Dennis Seidenberg was limited to 37 seconds of ice time in that dramatic win, the Bruins recalled Torey Krug from Providence (AHL). ... Krug, 22, recorded an assist in his one NHL game this season. He has played in just three NHL games in his career and never skated in the playoffs. The Bruins' other option would be veteran Aaron Johnson, who has played in nearly 300 NHL games, but none in the postseason.

I'd rather they scored than salivate....

It just means more ice time for Chara.

if that's true, here's hoping everything Hank says about him comes true

It seems funny how good a defenseman Ferrence has become. I remember him when he was splitting time between Pittsburgh and Wilkes-Barre. He seemed like he had potential when he was playing for Pittsburgh, but he really didn't impress anyone. Then he goes to Calgary and finally finds a home in Boston.

He's very scrappy and won't back down from anyone.

Not to worry. They have falling timber ... I mean ... Chara back there. He's enough.

It's more funny that Wade Redden is in the conversation :)

He is scrappy like Bishop says, but I think he bites and I really hope the B's can get an upgrade in his place for next year.

He is prone to turning over the puck more than the other defensemen. I believe this is the final year of his contract, no?

No worse than the back handed pass Celine did to the Bruin player for the game winner

Someone better be ready when Lucic runs over the King.

He was responsible for at least 3 screen goals versus the Leafs, and he knew it.

And he fell down in ungainly fashion 3 or 4 times.

He's just getting warmed up.....
