07:23 AM ET 05.15 | One might reasonably wonder now how to translate "sour grapes" from Russian. Alex Ovechkin now has generated as many controversies as he's scored goals in the playoffs: one. After the Rangers eliminated Ovechkin's Capitals in a 5-0 Game 7 drubbing Monday night at the Verizon Center, Ovechkin reportedly told a Russian hockey writer in his native language that he believed there had been an officiating conspiracy to force a seventh game in the series. "Not saying there was a phone call, but they wanted Game 7," Ovechkin reportedly said in Russian, translated and tweeted by Slava Malamud, a senior writer for Russian sports daily Sports-Express. "For ratings. You know, lockout, escrow, league must make profit."

If he could move the puck as well as his mouth in the playoffs, maybe they'd win in the playoffs.

The Caps have always complained about penalty disparity.
Ovie has never seemed the type to step up and outwork the opposition to draw a penalty.

Just who made this phone call? Maybe the White House or Congress???? ;^D

Here's hoping that all the money the Penguins was enough to buy the officials right through the Cup finals. Oooops . . . . . I mean . . . . . . just kidding.

I have news for you Alex: You didn't do a damned thing to improve ratings. So relax! And enjoy your kislyy vinograd (sour grapes). Maybe your mother can incorporate them into your borscht.

We should be good then. I think the refs are only allowed to call penalties on Neal and Cooke for the Pens. Everyone else gets a free pass.

The thought was probably running through his head though.

It wouldn't be the first time that the fix was in.

NHL would be the only sport that didn't conspire to benefit itself financially.
