07:06 AM ET 05.16 | Dirk Nowitzki took the occasion of a radio appearance earlier this week to look ahead at a future that may include a talent infusion and a smaller paycheck. "I got one year left on this deal and then I'm coming off the books. So if that helps for us to be better I'm going to take a paycut. That's part of the pitch. Cuban and Donnie have got to be part of the pitch. I think Dallas and the fans here, the sellout streak, the city to live in is gorgeous and has gotta be in the top five in the league. Hopefully, some of those guys will decide to come, and if not, we've gotta have a plan B. If none of those top free agents come, we gotta make some moves with sign and trades or something."

This should be their plan b....
Offer both Jennings & Pekovic a contract so stupid that their present respective clubs won't match.
Sign role player free agents like Dorrell Wright,Kyle Korver,Turiaf....

Hometown? Is Dirk signing with Der Bremerhaven Eisbaren?

He has been giving hometown discounts. You don't see any superstar doing that. Unselfish at its finest. They'll be back next year.

Just amazes me how everybody bashed Westbrook for scoring too much, but without him they wouldn't have won a finals game last year, now he was hurt during the first round after 2 games, and without him they could not return to the WCF.....

None will be w/ the Mavs. I like Jarrett Jack, Ellis, and maybe Dwight or Big Al at center.

The bucks will likely keep Ellis, not Jennings.
Yea I forgot about Al, he and Dirk would be monsters in that front court.

I think Ellis is gone too. Jennings is 50/50 because they drafted him.

May 16, 2013  09:15 AM ET

Jennings is a better bet to be gone than Ellis. His teammates don't like Jennings.

Without Westbrook, the Thunder would be a playoff team. Without KD, they'd be a lotto team.

Plenty of options this offseason...

Just need to make the proper picks.

Times like this is when GM's really earn their salary. Also at times like this we find out which GMs are really good and which ones aren't.

Exactly...

Donnie Nelson has made a nice living off of Dirk. Now it's time to see if he has what it takes or if his claim to fame is Wang Zhu Zhu.

Cleveland could use a veteran player like Nowitzki to show the young Cavs how to play championship level basketball. We have a good young core and only need a couple of wily vets to them a true contender.

Cleveland rox.
