07:10 AM ET 05.16 | There, that's settled. [Angels owner] Arte Moreno said Wednesday that the job of manager Mike Scioscia is safe. Moreno spoke to FOXSports.com outside Major League Baseball's headquarters in New York, where he is attending this week's owners' meetings. He said the chances of an in-season managerial change are "right now, zero." "Mike has zero problems, OK?" Moreno said. "This is his 14th year. Mike goes beyond what he does on the field. He's a good person. He's a good person in the community, a very good baseball guy." ... Scioscia, one of the highest-paid managers in baseball, is under contract with the Angels through 2018 -- a significant disincentive for Moreno to fire him.

Um.......the inmates are running the asylum? I mean, what are the chances this guy can get his head together now that he's playing in a MUCH tougher environment than Wrigley Field? (I know he did a stint in FL/MIA, but I live outside Chicago so I heard all the praise and bemoaning that went on with the North Siders)

I wouldn't put money on it that this fiasco is gonna pan out IMHO.............

Probably the hardest thing Arte has got to realize is he is not going to win with the players he has mostly purchase from free agency. He has got to take a step back and look at how some of the other teams that contend each year do it. It is call Arte develop young talent within your organization which is the basic for your foundation for the future.

You mean the way the Angels did it for many years?

LOL at your first comment about the inmates

when i saw that on the scroll on mlb the other night, i had to do a double-take. if (when?) he gets called up, they should make him sit down with Cliff Lee for some lessons on how to pitch effectively.

Arte also gave Mike a nice golden ring and said it has to be thrown into a volcano somewhere, but 8 of the Angels are going to go along with him to help.

moreno made mention that an in-season managerial change would not happen. sounds like after season is over all bets are off. and if scoisia goes after season Larussa Will NOT replace Sciosia. I don't see Moreno firing Scoisia since scoisia is still under contract. Besides the signings of Puljos and Hamiltom was done by Moreno or at least had his approval.
