07:16 AM ET 05.16 | Looking for a quick fix in Colorado? Take this to the bank: it's going to be a while before the Avs name a new coach. My spies tell me there will be no new coach in the near future. This probably means the following: The Avs would like to see if Dave Tippett will be available. ... Maybe the same applies to Lindy Ruff, but not as much as Tippett I don't think. ... Does this eliminate someone like Patrick Roy? I can't say for sure. Some people around the league still think the Avs would like to hire their former goalie. I'm not so sure (translation: I don't think so, but don't hold me to this). But I take [Joe Sakic] at his word: he doesn't want to hire a guy straight from junior.

Isn't that Peter Forsberg lurking in the background?

Must be a sign...

This sounds like someone working on a high school paper wrote this story.

Oh! You have spies? Do they all wear wigs? If they do, don't let them travel to Russia just now.

Many years ago, a local arthouse theatre in Philly ran a Rocky and Bullwinkle retrospective. I've never laughed harder in my life. I'm thinking I might have to visit Amazon now.

The first time I saw "The Ruby Yacht of Omar Kayam" as an adult, I laughed for about an hour. Even funnier was the "well I'm not going to say it" from Rocky during the episode
the Kurwood Derby....(which they got in trouble for originally)
brilliant stuff.

At one time they were successful.

There was one scene where Rocky and Bullwinkle were on a football team and Boris had filled the other team with ruffians dressed as girls in his bid to cheat. Rocky looks at the other team and says "Girls! What can you play with girls?" Bullwinkle then looks at the camera and says "Boy, this really is a kids program!". The whole theatre, all adults, lost it. We missed the next few lines of dialogue due to all the laughing.

Roy wants to be in charge, he doesn't want JUST the coaching job. He's good at it in Quebec City with HIS junior team cause he's co-owner, GM AND head coach. He has a say in all aspects. Remember the Canadiens intervieweed him for coaching job?!? part of the problem : he wants a say in all aspects. I can't blame him, but most NHL teams DON'T want that, they want more of a seperation from the GM and the Coach.. too much to do for one person, and Roy is a control freak.

All that to say, i'd be shocked if he gets the Avs gig as coach.
