06:56 AM ET 05.17 | The days of Joe Webb taking heat as a Minnesota quarterback are over. [The] former Alabama-Birmingham standout has become a full-time wide receiver for the Vikings. Coach Leslie Frazier said the decision to shift Webb to receiver was made after the draft, when the team selected receiver Cordarrelle Patterson in the first round and also because the Vikings had signed free agent quarterback Matt Cassel. ... Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said Webb has done a good job catching the ball, and there's a belief that because of his speed the coaches figure they can use Webb as a member of special teams and in other ways on offense. ... [Webb] played his entire sophomore season in college at the position.

The guy might do well at WR. He should be able to make the correct route reads and his size will make a good target for the QBs.

Wow they are really trying to do right by him

This could turn out to be a good move for the Vikings. They still need a good QB. Maybe Ponder will step up this year.

Tim Tebow ; take note!

Next, they'll have him line up 20 feet further out, beyond the sideline, and take his helmet off.

On the other hand, Julien Edelman was a QB in college and has adapted quite well to being a WR and return guy. He even played some defensive back.

It seems that way. Pretty cool of the Vikes to show that type of loyalty.

Let's see if the loyalty lasts when they've got to get under the next roster limit. I doubt that it will. They're nice to give him a chance like this, but my guess is they are ready to let him go.

They drafted Webb as a wide out because of his speed and since 1st round pick Patterson out of Tennessee is struggling reading the play book they had a choice.

I have a couple of good friends that are Vikings fans, and they wish now the Vikings would shift Ponder to full time Hot Dog Vendor.

A smart move that allows the Vikes to only have two active QB's with Webb as the emergency back up if they both get hurt in the same game.

As a Viking fan, I'm not sure if Ponder could throw a hotdog more than 4 seats away from the aisle. He might toss a couple to the wrong patron, too. Inconsistent on the field and in the stands. But, he did play well in late in the season against Houston and Green Bay.

I dunno. The WR depth chart is thinner than Kate Moss.

They could make a deal with the Florida Probation Department for Chad Johnson. They'd probably be glad to get rid of him.

Thanks, but no thanks. Why not throw in T.O. while we're at it.

Is there any story T&R won't run twice a day?
