Lawsuit exposes Fisher

06:59 AM ET 05.17 | In the eyes of many, Billy Hunter was no great leader for the players, which has resulted in investigations and, eventually, his ouster. Hunter ran the union like a mom-and-pop store, hired relatives and funneled business to companies that employed his relatives. ... Hunter's wrongs do not make [Derek Fisher] right. Hunter and Fisher can both be wrong. That has been my position from the outset. Derek Fisher is conniving. Don't take my word for it. Ask a Utah Jazz fan. Years ago, he used his daughter's health as an excuse to get out of Utah. Just this past season, Fisher hid behind his alleged desire to spend time with his family to get out of playing for the Dallas Mavericks. Thinking he could steal another title, he later signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

What!

Not St. Fisher

May 17, 2013  10:57 AM ET

I was funny watching him freaking out and crying to the refs when that Grizz player threw his shirt on the court. Fish always was a crybaby, or at least that's what he looks to be when we see him on the court and in the news.

May 17, 2013  01:15 PM ET

Always knew Fisher was a dirt bag. Said so when he "bailed" on Utah using his daughter's condition. That's as pathetic as it can get.
Sel-Fisher.

Facts are facts. but in a world of what have you done for me lately, did any of these teams really care when he cut out. Not a battle worth fighting about. Not one of his moves netted him an NBA Championship except when he left Utah to head back to L.A., so what, look at what Utah has done in the past few years. Would Fisher staying have made that much of a difference? I think not. Loyalty is to the man who's willing to pay you, and if you both get something out of it then count yourself blessed.
Don't hate the Player, hate the Game. Owners do this every year, when do we start showing the same disdain for them?

Respectfully, you must be confusing the N.B.A. with the N.F.L. If nothing else, the fact that Cuban and Miller allowed Fisher to walk away from a contract for the reasons he stated tells a whole different story that "what have you done for me lately". Effectively, Derek Fisher did nothing for either team and on that note, the should sue his **** for breach of contract. If as you say, "Loyalty is to the man who's willing to pay you...", then Derek Fisher failed the smell test spectacularly in both cases. "Don't hate the player, hate the game", does nothing but provide an excuse for the irresponsible. Just because things have (always) been done a certain way, doesn't mean those things aren't absurd or in this case, unethical. I think a better line to hitch your wagon to is, "It ain't what you do, it's the way that you do it." If Derek Fisher had handled his business with that in mind, there might be no room for articles (like this), accusations and lawsuits.

May 17, 2013  08:42 PM ET

Some people are also forgetting this small fact. Had Fisher not played in Dallas early in the season. Derek Fisher would have to resign as president of the players union. Fisher used Cuban because he knew the players would vote him back in as union president. Some how, the players think that Fisher has their best interest in his mind. And I think that the players want Fisher to take over Billy Hunter's old job.

I hope Fisher does take Billy Hunter's old job. That means the players are more foolish then I thought. At this point in his career, Fisher is only looking out for himself. And if Fisher is going to be dealing with the owners when it comes time to make a new collective agreement. The owners are going to eat him alive. And there won't be a ref in the room to call a offensive foul when Fisher flops to the ground looking to be bailed out.

Derek Fisher called Billy Hunter a crook.

Billy Hunter called Derek Fisher a crook.

When both men are looking and calling each other crooks, guess what? Both of them are crooks.
