06:55 AM ET 05.17 | At least for Thursday in front of the media, the job was Brandon Weeden's, as he took reps with the first-team offense during OTAs. Weeden, though, isn't taking anything for granted. He's confident he can retain his starting job, but he knows the new regime signed Jason Campbell to push him. Weeden said he has spent a "crazy" amount of time studying the new playbook with help from his wife, Melanie. He hopes coach Rob Chudzinski and his staff notice all the hard work and view him as the starter. ... "This means a lot to me. This is my job. I take it seriously. I want to be the guy. I want to build off of last year. I think we're going to be a better football team in a lot of ways, and I want to be a part of it."

If he can't beat Jason Campbell, then...

Did his wife Melanie play football also?

All of that hard work, and yet you're still wearing a Browns uniform

Ohhhh, that was harsh....

You need to be done with building off previous years, Brandon. You're going to turn 30 before this season is over.

Best you sit down and have a talk with your wife. If you improve and stay clean, you could catch four or five years in the league as a back up. Tell her not to spend every dollar you make.

Kick em while they're down and you're up, I say

It's his job to have his team go 0-16?

HaHaHa...you are not funny.

Sorry ... with four preseason games, I meant 0-20.

She's the "center" and he lines up behind her.

When he lines up in a shotgun, she says, "In your dreams, Brandon. My dreams too."

Really... you need your wife to help you with the plays??? Not a big confidence building comment for his coaches & GM. I can't help but wondering if Manning or Brady have their wives explain the plays to them? Here's an idea; maybe his wife should be on the other end of his helmet receiver so she can send in the plays and explain them to him. Any wonder why Cleveland can't find a winning season? Maybe Cleveland's paly book needs to have the words in bigger print and more pictures. Really dude....you're wife has to help you learn the play book...how embarassing!

Uh, Mrs. Campbell is smarter?

Get real guys; he probably has his wife quiz him from the playbook to make sure he's got things memorized correctly. And if he gets the right answer, she gives him a treat.

Hey now...

Heard the kid (well, 30 year-old kid) on the radio this morning. I like his attitude. He's been hitting the gym hard and I believe he'll win the job. As someone else said, if he can't beat out Jason Campbell...

At least the owner has other things to worry about.

May 17, 2013  01:34 PM ET

Well, with the expert help of Melanie, the sky's the limit!
