03:19 PM ET 05.18 | The New York Jets brought in David Garrard during the offseason to add some extra competition to the battle for the starting quarterback position, and while that didn't work out for either party, Garrard could remain a part of the organization. The Jets have given Garrard the opportunity to serve as a coaching intern during training camp. "The Jets offered me the chance to come back if I want to take a shot at that coaching thing with an internship in training camp," Garrard told SiriusXM NFL Radio. "I told them I'd talk with my wife about it, so I could still work with those guys. It's definitely something I'm considering." Garrard recently decided to retire because of a nagging left knee injury. The surgically-repaired knee kept swelling after practice, and Garrard eventually concluded that he couldn't realistically compete for the Jets' starting quarterback job while hampered in such a manner.

Might be something Good for both Parties!

Why check with your wife? You signed up to play, how is being a coaching intern any different? Isn't that LESS work but in the same location as training camp?

Internship? Don't those guys work for free?

Considering they just drafted his replacement... I don't think the Sanchize will be around that long.

The real coaches just want to distance themselves from the drama that is about to happen, they could send in DG to do the dirty work.

I'd tell Rexy and Morny that my wife reminded I promised to paint the house if I wasn't playing.

Run away DG as fast as you can from the Jets. Someone else will give you a shot at coaching.
