04:11 PM ET 05.18 | With team president Bryan Colangelo likely on his way out, the Toronto Raptors have targeted current Denver Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri to take over their basketball operations. Ujiri, the 2013 NBA Executive of the Year, turned the Nuggets into a contender just two years after trading franchise player Carmelo Anthony. The head-hunting firm hired by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment apparently deemed him the top possible candidate to replace Colangelo, who has a 2013-14 option on his contract that will likely be turned down next week. Before taking over as GM in Denver, Ujiri worked for three years under Colangelo in the Raptors' front office, so there's some degree of familiarity between the two sides even as ownership looks to overhaul the franchise after years of poor performance. Ujiri rejected job offers from other teams in the past, but his current contract with Denver expires next month so he could be interested in a new challenge.

He's done a good job. You have to wonder what the Nuggets would have done if they hadn't lost their leading scorer to injury.
