Cavs targeting Porter, other wings for top pick

04:36 PM ET 05.18 | Should the Cleveland Cavaliers fail to land one of the top two picks in next month's NBA Draft, it's expected that the team will select a small forward like Georgetown's Otto Porter Jr. and use its other first-round pick on a back-up big man. Though it's still relatively early in the draft process -- the Cavs still don't know exactly where they'll pick yet -- Cleveland appears to have begun targeting certain players with its current roster in mind. Porter, or a similarly rated wing like Indiana's Victor Oladipo, would certainly make sense for a Cavaliers team that has an elite young point guard in Kyrie Irving, plus developing bigs like Tristan Thompson and Tyler Zeller. Kentucky's Nerlens Noel will surely appeal to any team should he be available, but upgrading from incumbent small forward Alonzo Gee could be the most obvious way of improving the team quickly.

They already have enough young talent, what they really need is some veteran help; They have to do it via trades and free agency. Drafting this year isn't gonna help them much.

well, drafting a very solid SF could help a lot since as it says- Alonzo Gee is their only competent SF and he is better used as a backup that can come in and play some D and use his athleticism to make some plays.

Otto Porter Jr. or Oladipo would be great additions and give the Cavs a young nucleus of talent that can be built around- Irving, Thompson, Waiters, Porter, Zeller, Gee, Varejao, Ellington is a nice core to a team- add in some more picks (19, 31, 33) , plenty of cap space, and tradeable assets and the Cavs should be poised to take a nice step forward this coming year
