09:25 AM ET 05.19 | Ron Washington is deservedly under fire for letting Yu Darvish throw 130 pitches Thursday night in a 10-4 victory over Justin Verlander and the Tigers. It was fun to watch but pointless for him to continue beyond the seventh inning, when he had thrown 115 pitches.

Don't "Dusty Baker" this guy. He's got a lot of potential.

Yeah, that was stupid. Why risk it?

the rangers ACE has more energy than the whole rangers rotation, back in japan darvish did throw more than a 150 pitch count in every outing as a starter!!!

sometimes, trying to find out how strong the starter is,,could backfire to the manager strategy!!!

at the same time, the manager could safe to his bullpen extra rested time though,...,.,,

I'm sure his arm doesn't know. Why tell it. You'd think ligaments and muscles have an odometer.

darvish appears to be more healthy than anybody thinks,,,,,,then again he did pitch with longer counts in japan league!!!

Exactly.

Note that they don't post his pitch count after the fifth inning... Or the number of batters he faced.

I can tell you - it wasn't much.

So? The DL list is loaded with guys who have had low pitch counts used on them for years? The logical argument is " low pitch counts over time lead to injury." Ya could look it up, but you would be arguing with facts. Perhaps, just perhaps, pitch count is not the root of the problem? Ya think?

This!

Pitch count cannot be applied generically. Every individual is going to have a different limit. So, if you know a guy always has a terrible next outing after a 110 pitch game you limit him at 100-105. You can't just apply the same number to everyone.

maximum amount of starts in his Japan career? 28. And he averaged 25 a year in his 6 fulls season. Need to save a little gas in the tank if you want him to start 33 games a year, which is what you want your ace to do. I could see in September, during a pennant race, but this early in the season. Criticism well deserved, in my opinion.
