06:29 PM ET 05.19 | Jonathan Toews isn't happy that the Chicago Blackhawks got obliterated by the Detroit Red Wings in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals, and he's taking his rage out on the game officials. Following Chicago's 4-1 embarrassment, Toews met with the media and voiced his displeasure over the way the game was officiated when it came to how rough the Wings were. But before you jump on Toews about not being "manly" enough to handle some physical hockey, his complaints are being strategically placed to get more calls to go Chicago's way. Phil Jackson was a master at doing this while with the Los Angeles Lakers and other have followed suit in getting inside the official's head before a game in order to swing calls their way. Chicago got blasted on Saturday in more than one way, and regardless of whether or not calls come their way in Game 4, they need to find a way to power through the bruising play of the Red Wings defense.

So he's a "manly strategic" whiner. I get it.

LOL........many complain about the calls.....hard to think it has anything to do with any kind pf strategy..........getting in the refs heads?.....don't think so.

As I stated elsewhere: It's whine season in the NHL.

I never figured Toews for a whiner though. I guess it's contagious.

I've never seen Toews so frustrated. Credt goes to the Wings for the whine.

This years edition of the refs brings out the worst in the best.

Three PP for #1 seed Chicago Four PP for the 7th seed Wings. The only tough guy the Wings have hasn't even played. Phil Jackson was the master, but someone else better Toew the line.

Wings didn't say a word after the first game.

Hawks better realize that they're playing a division rival for the last time, these aren't the same old Wings but they're still the same Wings, and the guy in red wearing the C is just as tough, strong, and pig-headed as their guy. It's going to be a dog fight. Even though it's a shortened season, the playoffs are not and you're going to get the crap kicked out of ya every game.

Yup, and bioootching to some of his ex-teammates about it. Z needs to beat him up too.

Aye this...

All their pissin' and moanin' ain't going to change the fact that they got their butts dominated yesterday. I liked the response from the Wings after Game 1. Just went to work.

I don't like the way the Hawks are responding.

I don't buy the "strategic" whining theory. If you actually watched Game 2, you could see that Toews was talking to the refs while the Hawks were still up, and later while the game was tied.

Once was after clearly getting cross-checked in the back of the neck. I think you're allowed to "whine" about that.

Too bad Tootoo can't play a game, they want to see hitting. The old Hawks style was if they couldn't win they would fight all night.

Or you could say you could see how frustrated he was. That cross-check certainly could have been called, but it's star player on star player, so...guess they're letting the boys play. From Toews comments, you don't see how they're calling the game and make adjustments the next game, you start playing according to how you see them calling the game that day.

Well put. Maybe Ovie could get a late playoff job as the "whine" coach for the Eastern Conference. Even though his English is still weak, he's fluent in whine?
