06:06 PM ET 05.20 | The NFL and NFL Players Association are on the verge of pushing back the draft to May and moving up the start of the league year to before the Indianapolis scouting combine, according to league and union sources. The change of the draft to May would be effective in 2014, according to a source. As for the draft, the NFLPA is close to signing off on allowing the NFL to move the draft to May from April for at least the next three years, according to sources. Under the current collective bargaining agreement, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell can set the date of the draft without the NFLPA's approval, although he would prefer to have the union's blessing to maintain league harmony.

OK...

I'm sure there is some logic here that escapes me but what the hell do I know?

QUOTE(#1):

Why?The April timing is perfect.

If anything it should be moved earlier so teams can keep their focus on the on-field results rather than the combine results.

They need to move the pre-season games to May. Bet people wouldn't complain about quality or price in the middle of the football desert. Knock the rust off, break in the rookies, then spend 3 months focused on training and practice. Other than the travel, anything else about those games can be simulated by the teams.

Just stay hydrated, you'll be fine.
