07:08 AM ET 05.21 | In a wide-ranging interview after the conclusion of the Warriors season, head coach Mark Jackson was asked how important it was to keep Jarrett Jack. "As a coach I value everything that he did for this basketball team and not just on the basketball floor but off. He was incredible, he was a great leader, he as a voice, he was a big time competitor, he was a winner, he plays with an edge. He was instrumental in everything we did. I heard Bob talk about it earlier' being he's a free agent, it's not just about us bringing him back. ... In an ideal world for me, he's back for us as a Warrior. But this is truly a business and he's going to have to make the decision and so are we. But I'd love to have him back."

With Player Options for next year:
Richard Jefferson $11,046,000
Andris Biedrins $9,000,000

There goes 20 mil in Cap lol

Jack will be in another uniform w/ more money. He can't afford to give discounts right now...

If the Warriors ac Biedrins, then they will have the $$ to pay Jack and stay below the lux tax. But I would think they also want to bring back Landry, and not sure if they can do both. I expect both Jack and Landry want to be paid more than they are getting now.

Jack will be a hot commodity. I think the only way he leaves is for a starting position elsewhere. Very important piece to the Warrior puzzle.

I still don't like the idea of a cap. Large market teams are penalized because they are profitable. Teams should be able to reinvest in their organization how they see fit. It's not NY, Miami, Chicago and LA's fault that the small markets have no money.

Can RJ be amnestied? I thought he was already amnestied by the Spurs?

May 21, 2013  05:41 PM ET

They used their amnesty on Charlie Bell, whose contract has since expired. Landry is still under contract for next season. They could pay Jack on a backloaded deal, with year one at a discount and then pay bumps during years two and three, when Jefferson and Biedrens bad deals will be off the books. Jack is probably going to seek 7-10 million per season, for three or four years, and likely a starting spot. Detroit has cap space and a need at pg, and might go after Jack.

The GS Warriors can't afford to lose J.J. Period.
