07:15 AM ET 05.21 | It appears that Jayson Werth, who has not played in a major league game since May 2, won't be returning very soon, either. After getting what Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson called "kind of an alarming report" on [Werth] following another MRI on his strained right hamstring, it appears the right fielder's return will be delayed even further than the start of the team's upcoming homestand. "Our doctors say that he's going to be a while longer," Johnson said Monday afternoon at AT&T Park. "I think he was rushing it. And hearing from Jayson, he felt like it was a slight strain he could play through. He's starting to realize that your hamstring is going to take a little more time."

Judging from that photo, he must have gotten the strain while he was taking a dump on the field.

Could it be a Bas Case of Pedamosis?

And as they progress through this lackluster season, the Nats understand more clearly the magnitude of opportunity they blew of last year by resting Strasburg.

Major League Baseball is off to a boring start this year. The game seems to lack something.

But, but, he was on pace to hit like 15 home runs and drive in 58 RBI. That was even more the the 5 and 31 numbers he put up last year. How will they ever replace him????

If Werth 's hamstring is still sore stay out until healed. by trying to play through it can do oneof two things. 1: you don't go after line drives or flyballs at full speed, or run to first or bases at full speed. or you go all out and risk tearing the hamstring andbe out months instead of weeks.

It's starting to look like he's not going to be worth that enormous contract he signed....

That was obvious before the ink was dry.

Maybe the Dodgers will pick him up.

think the Nats are missing Mike Morse yet? the guy is no superstar but he was an integral part of their lineup last year.

So ... lacking any thread with any sort of relevant story, I hear-by declare this the thread of the day.

It's time for Major League Baseball to implement a system like the NFL. There needs to be a level playing field so that big market teams like the Yankees don't buy all the talent. No wonder the NFL is so popular.

Just what Mattingly needs ... an injured, overpaid player. Give poor Donny Ballgame a break!
