Avs' coaching chase takes bizarre turn

07:26 AM ET 05.22 | Is Colorado about to lose out on Patrick Roy for the second time in four years? Tuesday came and went without the Avalanche naming a head coach, but [Roy] remains a strong candidate for the job. ... The Avalanche would not comment on a Denver Post report that quoted Roy's brother, Stephane, as saying his older brother would be the next coach. Stephane Roy on Tuesday deleted a post on his Facebook page that said Patrick would be the next coach, something he reiterated in a Monday night interview with The Denver Post. He did not return calls Tuesday. The Avs remain interested in Roy as a candidate, however, and the newspaper La Presse in Quebec says Roy is interested in the job and talks are ongoing.

Once upon a time, he was a heckuva of a goalie. Now he is just part of a messed up family

Bizarre? What's so bizarre about interested parties working on a contract? What's so bizarre about, "the newspaper La Presse in Quebec says Roy is interested in the job and talks are ongoing?"

The only "bizarre" thing I see here is the intern's ability to come up with a more creative, less "bizarre" headline.

Sorry about the outcome of last night's game, Spiny. I'd be yawning too. I don't think the Rangers or Lundqvist can play the Bruins any better and, they still lost. Your team needs to add a couple of pieces. Sorry to say, Rick Nash isn't it. He plays with the "passion" and toughness of a Dustin Penner. Give him another pancake stack and send him home.

Thjey have been out worked and outplayed in pretty much every phase of the game. I thought Nash was actually better last night than he has been, I did see some fire last night.
but the fact is, they are being beaten by a better team. The are not working smart, they are now...and I don't blame Torts for this part....each trying to "do it" on their own. I found myself in the very un-enviable position of having to agree with PM, who said the same thing alluding to their power play. They seem to have forgotten how this game is played and won.

So I guess the pre-season paper was toilet?

Surprisingly, me too. One thing that will improve their PP immediately is to plant Rick Nash's big butt in Rask's face for the entire 2 minutes to screen and look for the dirty goals on rebounds and scrambles. He's not doing much else out there anyway.

not quite....maybe

This all started because of a Facebook post.

I think we can all agree that probably isn't the most credible news source - even if it was his stupid brother who should seriously have his **** kicked.

Maybe? I heard Slats is interviewing Mr. Whipple to replace Torts.

He was but .... not nearly good enough to make a difference.

Tough break Spiny. Henrik has played his heart out but so far the other pieces of the puzzle aren't coming together. Too late now I'd guess. In any event, the Rags are still playing for at least one more game and another team I'm familiar with isn't!

PS -Don't EVER agree with PM....even if he's only telling you what time it is. Check another watch.

:-(

I agree Slappy. If you do you could become one of these.

exactly...WGAF

feel for ya last night Spiny....you got probably the best goalie in the NHL and they don't give him the support he deserves. Nash plain sucks...he was better last night but that really isn't saying much. As sickening as it is I too agree with PM ...they were running all over the ice with no direction whatsoever...and believe me I've seen the keystone cops routine...the wings started out the season doing much the same thing...was maddening

Completely agree. I feel sorry for Lundqvist in this series

I feel sorry for Lundquist for as much as he has to play with that offense. I know Sather tried to get the offense bulked up with Richards and Nash but that just hasn't worked out. Reminds me of the pitchers for the Phillies actually - they work their butts off and get no support.
