Would Roy Hibbert have factored into final play of Game 1?

03:18 PM ET 05.23 | On the surface -- or in other words in hindsight -- not having Hibbert on the court was an egregious mistake and makes it seem like Indiana either wanted to lose or suffered a massive brain fart. It wouldn't have been the first of the night as Paul George nearly lost the game for Indiana when he tried to pass the ball to a player sitting on the bench. There's no winning in this argument, there's only logic. What that logic suggests is if Hibbert had been on the court for the final possession of the game, he'd have been defending Chris Bosh. The way the play ended up, Bosh was nowhere near the bucket or LeBron when the play was made and 2.2 seconds is not enough time for Roy Hibbert to be effective on that play the way it turned out. Bosh was just arriving at the bucket when LeBron drove it home, meaning Hibbert would have been an after-thought.

I don't need 20-20 hindsight. As soon as they said Hibbert was on the bench I said "Uh-Oh. I can't believe they're doing this." 2.2 seconds left in the game he can't even get a 3 second call standing with a foot in the lane. Rather give up a jumper and live with that.

The selflessness that got James branded a coward in these late situations the fact that he is one of the only superstars in the history of this sport who won t automatically take the contested jump shot with ego in search of game ending glory is precisely what left him so open on this particular play Indiana coach Frank Vogel pulled 7,2 Roy Hibbert because he feared James passing to an open Chris Bosh who couldn t be guarded correctly by Hibbert if Hibbert was also trying to protect the rim from James

Vogel knows he has one of the best LeBron defenders in the league if indeed there is such a thing. That???s a young named Paul George, He very close to stardom......

James had to fail in Cleveland and Miami had to suffer enough to want to erase all weaknesses Michael Jordan, best ever recently said that the best way to stop James is to push him to his left for a jump shot but that s an outdated scouting report all the math proving that James has turned that into a strength Paul George sent James that way anyway as if he was doing any of the choosing in this particular transaction and the result was the easiest game winner James has ever had in the pros Think of all of Jordans most famous game`winners They weren???t layups at the rim They were the contested jump shots James will not take if a teammate is open. They were the kind of shots Vogel thought he was getting James to take the kind of game--ender James hadnt ever hit in Miami until this season.

Oddly enough, despite the rep & perception of LBJ, since he has come into the league, he has the best shooting percentage in the NBA for game ending shots in the playoffs. Kobe is second, not first as Laker fans would confidently claim.
