06:59 AM ET 05.24 | The clock on Jared Allen, the Vikings $14-million man (his cap number is more than $17M), is ticking. As you well know, [Allen] has reached an unfamiliar point as he enters his 10th NFL season. He's suddenly in a contract year. ... Given Allen's age (31), his battles with shoulder and knee injuries in 2012 and the expensive price tag he'll certainly command until his playing days are over, it's very possible his time as a Viking could be nearing an end. ... Oh, and you also should know that when Allen went to get his haircut a few weeks back, he decided to go back to his trademarked mullet. "I'm going to rock it, man. Let's bring it back," Allen said. "I figured why not end my contract the way I started it."

Fun dude. After he beat the drinking problem, he really got his life together. Good for him.

You still see plenty of mullets in the suburbs around here

Business in the front.. Sweatshop labor in the back.

I'd love to see a ref call a penalty on him in the preseason and then announce to the crowd. 5 yard penalty for bad hair.

It might have to be 15 yards for Unsportsmanlike Haircut or Illegal Hair in the Back.

Part of the Redneck culture down here... although those Duck Dynasty dudes are establishing a new acceptable look.

He is definitely going out with $14 million more in his pocket and all of the $70 million from that original contract. That is a rare feat in itself.

This guy cracks me up. Great attitude and a heck of a player. Never takes a play off.

Four game suspension for tackling with the crown of the mullet.

As they used to say about records climbing the chards, "Number 1 with a mullet!"

Ah, yes. I remember when they said that about .38 Special. It was actually six mullets.

He should try a few new things with the mullet to change it up a bit and have his hair become newsworthy ala Dennis Rodman.

1. Dreadlock the back
2. Do his impression of white college chicks from small towns on spring break and get braids and beads and/or corn rows.
3. Jheri curls
4. Instead of the comb-over, go with the comb-forward
5. Krusty the Clown hair?
6. Charlie Brown hair?
7. "Afro puff" the back?
8. Dennis Rodman Hair Retrospective - each week sport a new 'do that Rodman had in the NBA
9. Princess Leia "buns"?
10. Andre Agassi circa 1991?
