What the Canucks don't want in a coach

07:16 AM ET 05.24 | The Canucks, all along, believed they had the guys in the room to make great things happen. They believed in the core. They believed in the coaches. The refrain echoed again after the San Jose Sharks series, and you wonder if the new coach may have to be as visible in the room as behind the bench. Constricted by salary-cap concerns and forced to fast-track prospects, the core will have to do more than talk a good game among themselves. "I don't think we need somebody to come in and crack the whip," defenceman Kevin Bieksa said Thursday. ... "I still believe in this team and that the core can win and that we're young enough to win. We're more mature and even-keeled, and maybe (coach's rants) is appropriate on rare occasions, but every coach has his own strategy."

Wow, a player on a team publicly defends his teammates.

Hey Bieksa, if you believe (opinion) you are good enough, why does your playoff record (fact) say otherwise?

D-man Kevin Bieksa said... "I don't think we need somebody to come in and crack the whip ..... We're more mature and even-keeled, and maybe (coach's rants) is appropriate on rare occasions ...."

After those remarks, I'd love to see Kevin Bieksa traded to the Rangers so he can play for Mr. Rant himself! I believe that'd be poetic justice!

That's because his coach was mean to him.

Too bad Iron Mike's in the KHL. It'd be fun to see a second shift in Nuckville.

Is it just me, or does it look like is team could use some of the no-nonsense soul crushing only a man of Ron Wilson's ilk can provide?

The problem is clearly Mason Raymond. He's locker room poison.

Shouldn't you be off sulking?

There are no problems in Vancouver. Solid core. Great GM. Astute fans.

Any trained chimp could waltz in there and lead them to glory.

Cup waiting just around the corner.

QUOTE(#18):

But, Alonso's winning Sunday. Favourite race of the year (except for the years I go to Montreal).

My least favourite. Too processional.

At an F1 site I go to I've picked 5 straight winners this year. But you can't pick the guy you picked in the last race this race and I had Alonso in Spain.

So I'm going with Kimi this week.
