Toews coming unglued

07:18 AM ET 05.24 | Jonathan Toews has seen far more of the penalty box than the back of the net against the Red Wings this playoff series, which has contributed to landing the Blackhawks on the brink of elimination. [Toews], the ultimate hockey battler, came close to being unglued in the second period of Thursday night's 2-0 loss. ... Toews collected a hat trick of minor penalties, the second of which led to Jakub Kindl's power-play goal and game-winner. In 48 regular-season games, Toews was whistled for just 11 minor penalties. In 5:39 of the second period, he took three. "I'm not going to say anything about the officiating," Toews said before doing just that. "I disagree with the calls. It's in the heat of the moment. They see what they see."

No question Big Z has gotten into his head. The Wings, collectively, have gotten into the Hawks' heads. Kane and Hossa have been invisible. It ain't over yet but .... the Hawks would have to win three straight under enormous pressure against a team that is at the top of their game right now.

nice quote from Muir...........

When Jonathan Toews watches the tape of Chicago???s 2-0 Game 4 loss in Detroit, he should pay close attention to to the play of his nemesis Henrik Zetterberg and his Red Wings teammate Pavel Datsyuk.

He???ll see the two stars were subjected to a series of hooks, jabs, slashes and all manner of uncalled cheap shots, just as he was. He might also notice that, despite that duress, they rarely lost their cool.

Little Johnny must be taking punk lessons from Kane.

Disagrees with the calls!? LMFAO I knew, just knew he was going to come back and complain about the refs. They were clear! He highsticked two of the penalties, no disputing you hit them in the face man. The other one was a blatant hook to break up possible odd man rush. Get over it, just say you guys have to compete harder. It's the Red Wings that are working you over, not the refs.

"Toews Coming Unglued"

Better get the duct tape.

The other thing that just makes you want to wretch is olczyk and his homer hawks views on everything. NBC needs to get him over to the games in the East and take PM with him.

Hey we have Bob Cole.....

But this is like arguing who's the best looking Sutter.

Nope. No thanks. Keep him away.

Good game last night from what I saw from it. Like the Pens, Hawks need to know no one is gonna hand them the damn Cup just cause the headlines have made everyone believe it.

Yeah that was pretty unstomach-able......I muted it. I was glad PM was covering your game and not mine, because I had to hang in there for 4 periods.....

They are getting run over by the Winged Wheel.

May 24, 2013  10:17 AM ET

He looked frustrated after Game 2... this was the final step.

Queenville has a huge task before him. His team is getting outplayed and he's getting outcoached and this has all the implications of being over real soon.

May 24, 2013  10:32 AM ET

Problem is the Hawks peaked at the beginning of the season.

May 24, 2013  10:33 AM ET

I thought that the Hawks would make a better series of it.

Saw that one too. Like I said the other day, whatever the Hawks try to dish out, the Wings simply take and move on.
