Miami-Florida rivalry losing TV luster?

11:43 AM ET 05.25 | What does it tell you about how far Miami has fallen as a national draw and how little clout the ACC has among its TV partners when Miami's game against Florida on Sept. 7 is kicking off at noon on ESPN? That's right, NOON! What is this -- Kentucky-Vandy on Jefferson-Pilot or Duke-Wake Forest on Raycom? Can't say I really blame ESPN for sticking this game in the undesirable noon slot. Miami is, after all, the home team and this is the ACC's TV game. Quite frankly, both UM and the ACC haven't been relevant on a national level for years. It also doesn't help that the Gators, even though they won 11 games last season, aren't the sexiest of teams and have very little star power. Prediction: This game will not even be a true sellout.

Why would Kentucky-Vandy on Jefferson-Pilot or Duke-Wake Forest on Raycom have to do with what time ESPN shows this game??.. its only relevant to those fans in Florida

I'd rather see Florida play a better ACC opponent. Was Virginia Tech not available?

Amazing the arrogance you have after getting your pants pulled down by Louisville, danimal. Miami will hand you your second L in 3 games, bank it.

Not a slap at either the lizards or the Canes more a MAJOR SUCK UP to both Notre Dame and The B1G . How the writer can say it will not be sellout in May for a game in September is an arrogant guess. 40,000 Jort clad lizards will show up along with the 12,000 Cane fans and the Green Tarps which account for at least 15,000 covered sets for every game except FSU every other year. There sellout solved.

JD; marvelous collarbones. Since FSU is off that weekend ,perhaps a few thousand curious Noles will attend with "A plague on both your houses " theme ? Then pulling for the Canes at the last if their 116th ranked D has improved from 2012.

I can't even imagine a 'Nole fan going to Miami to watch the gators and canes play football. !!!!

Agreed. The only possible positive outcome would be a scoreless tie, and no self-respecting 'Nole would be caught dead at that game.

As a conference? Nah, not very impressive. However, the top 2 teams in the weak-**** ACC would take your beloved Aggies to the effin wood shed!

Yeah, the same bball school that exposed the gators as frauds and beat the living snot out of them last January.

Let us not be too quick to judge a few down years for these teams. Florida does seem to have a team closer to "elite" status than the U at this point in time. What other teams are playing that date?. That too, can have reason for early time slot. Besides, being from the northeast, it never was that "sexy" a game for me anyway! The game will cycle back to more prestige in time. No big alarm.

This is not far off the mark, numbers-wise.

The Canes have the capacity to win this one, though, they have some good athletes no doubt. Gator fans should be concerned.

hehehe

Sounds like what I usually write the week of the Noles/Canes game. "Please let it be a 0-0 tie, played in a constant downpour, and both QBs pull a hammie".
