12:18 PM ET 05.25 | In the current culture of sports, performance-enhancing drugs are a part of the everyday conversation. This is something the NFL is trying to curtail now, with the news that it wants HGH testing for the 2013 season after submitting a proposal in late April, according to NFL.com. Other substances are already banned by the NFL, including different types of steroids that carry an automatic four-game suspension. However, HGH isn't on the list. The problem is that it's hard to figure who is guilty of taking HGH because there isn't a baseline established. It's unclear what levels an adult man should have in his body and just how HGH affects a human, something the World Anti-Doping Agency is working on.

NFL just wants it on record that they tried. They could care less about getting the testing into the CBA.

They're getting more proactive on their defense of future lawsuits. This puts the pressure on the NFLPA.
