02:27 PM ET 05.26 | San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard is officially a member of the 24-man pool that gets the chance to play for Team USA in the 2014 FIBA World Cup tournament in Spain. Though Leonard expressed his happiness in being selected to the group in a report from Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News on Sunday, he might have to miss Team USA's upcoming July mini-camp in Las Vegas to get his left knee healthy again. Leonard has been playing through tendinitis in the knee for a good portion of the season. In the report, he says he hasn't decided whether or not he'll participate in the mini-camp yet.

This guy's long term prospect is worrisome; For such an young guy, he has too many knee/ankle issues. For someone the relies on sheer athleticism to make his mark, this is a bad sign. Better rest up and rehab before the next season.

Yeah, it's too bad he will miss, but it was kind of expected. The injury is something that will only get better with about 6 weeks of rest and x # of weeks rehab, which probably means the whole summer.

Still just missing this mini-camp does not mean he won't get his chance at being part of the team. KL is awesome, wish him a speedy recovery.
