Suh not cut out for leadership?

06:59 AM ET 05.27 | With Kyle Vanden Bosch and Corey Williams gone, the Lions' defense, particularly its line, could use some leaders, and both GM Martin Mayhew and Jim Schwartz have intimated they hope Ndamukong Suh can take on that responsibility. "That's something he's embraced," Schwartz said Wednesday. ... I would caution against expecting Suh to be a leader like Vanden Bosch or Williams. I would caution against trying to force Suh into being something he's not. He's not going to be that rah-rah type guy. He's not going to preside over a team meeting. He's not going to be the guy who invites his teammates over to his place for a cookout. That stuff is not in his DNA. He is aloof by nature. He has admitted this.

A leader? Not unless you'd expect him to lead in kicking QBs in the crotch or stomping on offensive linemens' arms.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

OK, but more importantly, is Jim Schwartz 'cut' out for leadership?

May 27, 2013  09:11 AM ET

He's got to Step Up his Game not Step on Other players!!

Maybe he could be a leader in an atmosphere suited to his thuggish ways? Maybe jail? Or the Gaza Strip?

Couldn't have said it any better, Jim.

The punk cupboard is full in Detroit.

Let's not forget reckless driving and road rage. Biggest waste of talent and money since Haynesworth.

Happy Memorial Day to all who served, especially those who paid the supreme price.

It is not like they have to replace any leaders. Really, if Vanden Bosch or Williams were any good at that, then all the stuff guys like Suh were doing to hurt the team would not have happened. That glass was empty before they left.

Perfect man for the job if you want somebody taken out

Suh not cut out for leadership? Is that a surprise to anyone here??

Dude has not progressed or improved one iota since he was a junior in college. One trick pony. That's not leadership.

The article, or more specifically the comments,
seem contradictory. On one hand they (management, coach) hope he can take on a leadership role. On the other hand they say it's "not in his DNA". It sounds like they hoping for something and expecting nothing.

Whether you love him or hate him, recognize that Suh is a loner and cannot be expected to lead a team.

He worries me more when he is not playing football but rather out and about in society.
