07:08 AM ET 05.27 | Ah, timing. Although the Yankees are the team that has been battered by injuries this season, the Mets are the ones who are hurting heading into this year's revamped Subway Series, which starts Monday. It may turn out to be a bit of good fortune for the Mets that the series has been shortened to four games, from six. But the team may not be so lucky after all: the games will be played consecutively -- the first two at Citi Field, the other two at Yankee Stadium -- when the Mets are playing their worst baseball of the season. ... The Mets, at 17-29 entering Sunday's game, had not been 12 games under .500 this early in the season since 1993. Entering Sunday, they had lost eight consecutive home games and five in a row over all.

I guess the NYT didn't see the Mets beat up on the Braves last night.... Not bad for a team being broke---- EH???

Your excitement about the one win in the last week says everything. The Marlins aren't the only NL East team in need of new ownership. The market in NY supports a much, much better team than is being fielded by the Mets.

Not to mention Ike going 2-3 and driving the go ahead runs....that was a calender marking event right there

So is David Wright turning into Adam Dunn without the power. He was a human strikeout machine this weekend.

Image the prospect the Mets would of had if Sandy traded Reyes. Yet some think the Mets are rebuilding.
