07:15 AM ET 05.27 | Yes, Case Keenum might be gone. [But] the next great quarterback might not be. David Piland returns at the position among 10 offensive starters, but the Cougar quarterback will have to hold off two freshmen -- 6-foot-5-inch, 221-pound John O'Korn, a former offensive Player of the Year in Florida who chose Houston over Wisconsin, Arkansas, Penn State and others because of its early interest, and 5-11 Tyler quarterback Greg Ward. The Cougars, who will move into a new 40,000-seat stadium in 2014, are pumped about their new league, the American Athletic Conference -- "we'll be listed first in all the conference standings," jokes crack assistant AD for communications David Bassity.

Cougar High didn't even dominate C-USA.

A 6'-5" QB from St. Thomas Aquinas
A 6'-3" QB from Southlake Carroll
A 5'-11" QB from Tyler JT

All 3 of these kids have some impressive video out there. O'Korn looks huge against high school players. He's listed as a pocket passer but has shown good running ability. He can really sling the ball. Ward is small but he can really run and has a good arm too - good accuracy and decision-making.

Next great QB? That infers that they have had one before. That ought to get a nibble or two.
