Bryce Harper likely to miss a few days with injury

10:31 AM ET 05.27 | One of Major League Baseball's biggest names will be out of the lineup for a few days, and the struggling Washington Nationals will be without their leading slugger. Twenty-year-old golden boy Bryce Harper will reportedly miss the next few days of action after aggravating a previously sore left knee three different times during Sunday's 6-1 win over the Phillies. Harper famously endured a violent collision with the right field wall at Dodger Stadium, and manager Davey Johnson doesn't seem to be thrilled with Harper's "all-out" playing style at the moment.

There's a fine line between playing aggressively and playing recklessly. Harper hasn't seemed to have found it yet.

Harper is still very immature. He should have stayed in the minor leagues another year.

Uh, yeah... Then he could have won some award in the minor leagues as opposed to NL Rookie of the Year last year.

Good call.

The kid would have had time to mature and handle himself like a professional with some more time in the minor leagues. This is only my opinion.

He has tremendous talent but needs to work on his image.

Spot on.

And people here are complaining that a guy puts 110% effort into his craft. I'm no Harper fan, and I do hope he curbs his carelessness, but this is the guy we wish all other guys would play like.

I would have to agree with you. The guy acts like a 10 year old.

Agreed. Kid plays hard and at a damn high level, yet some want to form an opinion on him through a couple (overblown) incidents.

He plays on a rival team (Braves fan) but after watching him a lot over the past couple years, I have formed a very positive opinion on him as a player that isn't all all diminished by Ozzie Guillen cussing at him, the old bat off the wall into noggin, or running full blast into a wall trying to make a play.

Wanting him to stay in the minor leagues another year to "mature" or "handle himself like a professional" is laughable. He is learning on the job and doing it very, very well.

I loved it when Hamels plunked him (for some BS "old school" reason that no old schooler even understood) and he ended up walking to first (like a "professional") and then eventually stealing home.

I became a big fan of his after that. Harper is good for baseball.

Haha, exactly.

Peeps just love to hate the young guys. Even if said young guys are doing everything right. Well mostly everything. Harper still has to figure out how to stop injuring himself. Small gripe, though, as long as nothing serious happens.

That **** was classic.

Good way to respectfully get the upper hand.

Bryce is pulling off a pretty rad Spicoli impersonation in that pic.
