03:34 PM ET 05.27 | New Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann says she isn't going anywhere.

The former Louisville administrator refuted allegations that she had been verbally and mentally abusive towards her players when she was volleyball coach at Tennessee, accusations that were eerily similar to the behavior of disgraced coach Mike Rice that led to sweeping changes throughout the Rutgers athletic department - and Hermann's hiring.

Hermann told reporters Monday that although she was an "intense" coach, she wasn't abusive, and that she intended to stay on as athletic director. She later told ESPN that Rutgers president Robert Barchi told her she will not be fired.

She got the old "We aren't going to fire you" speech? She better pack her bags.

"Intense" is a term that could be interpreted in a number of ways. Woody Hayes and Bobby Knight were "intense" as well.

I thought verbal or physical abuse was a requirement to get a job at Rutgers

Rutger's is better off using The State Prison System for recruiting it's Employees, the President should have been fired a long time ago first they have a coach that's over emotional, then they fire the AD, they replace the coach with a former player (that's ok)but they claim he graduated and he didn't, then they hire a New AD, who goes around bullying people, (15) years ago, it's not any of the employees fault it's the Idiots that hired them. The Governor Is too busy slimming Down for his run at President of US to step in and do something for Jersey's get This #1 School, Hello!

Her boss told her she wasn't being fired, which means either it was considered and discussed, or she went to her boss and asked. And no boss in their right mind is going to say "yeah gee you know, we are firing you next week"....

Yeah but Woody only punched players from the other team.

This gal has "trouble" written all over her. Smug seems to be her MO, and she "conveniently forgets" that there is a video of her telling a coach she better not get preggo and then fires her when she does get knocked up. They'd be better off cutting this one short right now because it won't get any better.

New Jersey. Rutgers. Trouble. Its' inevitable when nobody there truly wants to escape the milieu.

How does one "forget"
a. Having an entire team turn against you
b. Having an entire team send a letter saying you were a horrible person
c. Having a meeting with that team AND the AD where you quit and walked out

Really? How does one forget something like that?

Self-induced psychological break. The cloak of lies because so heavy that a rift is formed, and the truth which one cannot ever admit to falls within it, to never be acknowledged again. One of the regulars on FN CFB threads and boards is a textbook case. Catch him off guard, and he'll unwittingly provide you insights which will allow you to better understand Hermann's flawed character.
