Jagr Lives on in Pens Locker Room

02:37 PM ET 05.28 | Though he left the team over a decade ago, Jaromir Jagr's legacy with the Pittsburgh Penguins will stand the test of time. He was one of the greatest players to ever don the black and gold. So Consol Energy Center's home locker room is certainly going to recognize. Of course, that can be a bit awkward when that player is still going strong into his 40's, and playing on the team that will try to knock the Penguins out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. When the Penguins dress for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final on Saturday, they will be staring at Jagr, who now plays for the Boston Bruins. The Pens have a "ring of fame" in their dressing room, which features images of the greats in Penguin history. Mario Lemieux, Larry Murphy, Paul Coffey, Kevin Stevens, Bob Johnson among others. Above where Mark Eaton sits in the locker room, however, is an image of Jagr. Jagr is unanimously considered the second best Penguin of all-time, at least until Sidney Crosby passes him (as it appears he will) in many team-related offensive categories. Eaton seemed unfazed by it. "He's up here for the great time he had here with Pittsburgh and winning two Cups and being one of the greatest players of all time," Eaton said while standing underneath three renderings of Jagr. "That's why he's in here, but that doesn't play into our heads at all now." Meanwhile, Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma just shook his head and moved on. "I have never given it thought that one of the star players in Pittsburgh history is up on our Ring of Honor and still playing," Bylsma said. The Penguins will face the Bruins in the Eastern Conference Final beginning on Saturday.

I believe the term they like to use would be that he is but a shadow of his former self...

"That's why he's in here, but that doesn't play into our heads at all now."

And it shouldn't.

Gotta shut him, and among others down to have a change to win in the next series. End of story. (Wait, was there a story here?)

This is why the FN interns are so undervalued on this site.....

I keep reading how this is the most "evenly matched series," or evenly matched teams in the East, blah, blah. Hard to make a prediction. Will go six or seven. Well, something tells me it is going to be a "blow out," either way, anti-climatic (well, maybe not for the winning team). I hate this long time off too.

In an attempt to get the other teams off their game, they also have a ring of honor in the visitors locker room.

I don't like the long break. Gives Vokoun too much time to "cool off." Not good for him IMHO.

Heard this was due to the West finishing up their games, but also because of a NKOTB concert in Boston?

So, the rest of us have to suffer because people want to go to listen noise.

No denying it. If the Bruins were playing with Jagr in his prime it wouldn't be much of a series. Jagr in his 40s, bring it on.

I'm not going to predict that the Pen will win. Anderson seemed to think that no one would be able to stop them, but I don't know.

Note to whoever wins that series, the Kings are averaging 50 some hits a game.
