04:57 PM ET 05.28 | The Atlanta Hawks moved swiftly in naming San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Mike Budenholzer as their head coach. Budenholzer replaces coach Larry Drew, who was considered a candidate for the Hawks' head coaching opening but was allowed to interview elsewhere in the NBA. Budenholzer, who spent the last five seasons as Spurs coach Gregg Popovich's lead assistant, is familiar with Hawks general manager Danny Ferry, a former player and front office executive in San Antonio. The process of his hiring ramped up following San Antonio's sweep of the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Finals, and Budenholzer is expected to remain with the Spurs through the NBA Finals.
