07:28 AM ET 05.29 | It's been more than a decade since Jaromir Jagr last wore a Penguins sweater, but his production for the franchise remains impossible to ignore. Jagr's name and likeness also appear prominently in the Pittsburgh Penguins home dressing room at the CONSOL Energy Center, so it's going to be a little strange when No. 68 suits up against them this weekend as a member of the Boston Bruins. "There are only four teams left, and that's pretty exciting," said Jagr. ... "The players should realize that it's not automatic to be in the playoffs, and it's not an automatic to be one of the last four teams playing for the Cup. If you love something then you want to be with it all the time. I love this game. As long as I can play it, I want to play."

"Jagr doesn't sound ready to retire"

Just curious, how does a player sound when he's ready to retire?

May 29, 2013  09:02 AM ET

He'll retire when teams stop shoving seven figure contracts at him. It's unfortunate that he wants people to remember him as a shadow of his former greatness. But, it's up to him. Lot's of great athletes stay a little too long. It simply tarnishes their reputation a bit. Not shocking.........just sad.

When he gets out of bed in the morning and all his joints sound like somebody's already having Rice Krispies.

Every time I wake up, I keep reaching for the can of WD40. Years ago I used to thing it was the springs in the mattress. Now I know different.

This might have something to do with all of his selflessness. Wanna bet he suddenly discovers some scoring touch this round - then it'll be a lot more interesting for him accrual-wise in the new contract talks.

Perhaps related: BEAVER kills man in Belarus (he was trying to take the Beaver's picture) - this has nothing to do with Bieber's monkey.
