Brian Kelly wants Golson back in 2014

03:19 PM ET 05.29 | Everett Golson can possibly return to the team from his academic suspension in January, which means if the Irish make it back to the National Championship or any other BCS Bowl, they'll likely have Golson back. But while he'll be eligible to play again for a January Bowl game, it's unlikely that Brian Kelly will insert him as the starter especially if another quarterback led them there. But while he's probably not going to play a down for the Irish in 2013, Kelly said that he's behind Golson. According to the coach, the growth from this incident stems from responsibility and that's something Golson is taking after the incident that got him kicked off the team. Notre Dame will be trying out three quarterbacks including Tommy Rees in camp this summer in order to fins a viable replacement for Golson who would return in 2014 to battle for his starting job as a senior.

Hopefully, Nurse Ratched is available to provide tutoring and it all turns into a tv movie.

If the University had any guts he'd be kicked out for good just like any student who did what he did would be.

What did he do? I've seen, I believe, both "academic violation" and "academic reasons." Cheating or poor grades?

Most schools will give second chances though. What he probably did was stupid, but I can't see why one stupid mistake should result in his immediate expulsion either.

Everyone makes stupid mistakes in life, and most always get a second chance afterwords as well.

Kelly don't care about a players conduct......if the kid is a star player he looks the otherway, he did it numerous times in Cincinnati with Tony Pike the starting QB and a few other players.

What do you know about "what he did", and how ND handles similar situations?
Inquiring minds want to know?

But he isn't at Cincinnati, and the coaches at ND don't decide on academic matters.

Most ND fans, students, and faculty/staff would like to see him back at ND, just as they'd probably like to see any other student who screwed up in a non-violent, non- malicious way be able to come back.
First, however, these young men and women who screw up have to demonstrate that they are able to change and can live up to the school's expectations and rules. That's the purpose of suspension and probation.

Ultimately it is up to the coach who plays on the team period, academic matter or not.

The QB that led your team to a NC game-and you want him back? What a surprise!

Sportsfun is right, if he has issues academicly, then it is totally
out of the coaches hands no matter what he thinks. And
Kelly said this in his first press conference this week.
