08:24 PM ET 05.29 | Wide receiver Steve Smith announced his retirement from the NFL Wednesday. No - the other one.

Smith, 28, attained fame with the Giants, helping them win a Super Bowl in 2008, reeling in a franchise record 107 passes in 2009 - no other Giant has ever had more than 107 - and earning a Pro Bowl selection that season. But the USC product had microfracture knee surgery in 2010, and only recorded 25 receptions in two years afterwards with the Eagles and Rams. He was signed to a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but wasn't expected to compete for a starting spot.
