07:05 AM ET 05.31 | In the eyes of Giants head coach Tom Coughlin, the wideout has gone back on his word. [Coughlin] remains irritated and frustrated that receiver Hakeem Nicks has stayed away from the Giants' organized team activity practices. It was OTA No. 4 yesterday and, again, Nicks was a no-show. "At one point Hakeem told me that he was going to be here and then he was not here," Coughlin said after practice Thursday. "Now the strictest interpretation, as everybody knows, is it's a voluntary program." Voluntary means there are no financial repercussions for not attending OTAs. When players cannot make a practice on a certain day, usually they inform the coaching staff they will not be on the scene. Coughlin said he hasn't heard from Nicks.

It is Voluntary Tom. You do know the meaning right?

Winning the Division is optional, too. But if you want to be a winner, you do the "voluntary" stuff.

Don't know if Tom should get all knotted up right now. Might save some of that energy for when it counts. Might be why the Giants start strong and then fade often.

Premature Coachulation........

He'll hold out through camp, get his contract re-structured then get injured.

he's replaceable.....someone else will step up and get his reps.
this is one of the things that bothers me about athletes...their lack of professionalism. These guys get paid very well and some where along the way seemed to feel entitled and lose that desire to work hard to earn and keep their roster spot. Yes, we know its OTA's but seriously if you're head's in the right place or simply a professional he would be there.

He should be there. He's just had 4 1/2 months off. It's not like the Giants were playing in January or anything.

This is about Nicks, not Cruz. Nicks doesn't have a contract issue going on right now, Victor Cruz does.

If he said he would attend and doesn't, I'd be miffed too, what about a man's word?

I guess they should go ahead and cut him then

Why don't they put a stop to this annual BS, and make the OTA's manditory. I get tired of this same ol discussion every year

Coughlin should be miffed!!

I'm sure the CBA is the reason why they haven't done that, but they still want everyone to understand that "in spirit"

He's waiting until Cruz gets his then it'll be an issue. Forward thinking man..

Do OTA's add anything for the veterans?

Its just another opportunity to get injured.

As Michael Crabtree will attest.

I would think running drills with a make believe defense might help on timing. The Sanchez needs the practise to perfect
