10:39 AM ET 05.31 | Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston comes in to this season with a lot of hype after being the top quarterback recruit in the 2012 class, and the redshirt freshman is ready to take the college football world by storm. He is already in the early Heisman talks and many believe that he could be a future No. 1 overall pick, but now former Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden is piling onto the expectations with his latest comments. When Bowden was speaking of Winston's potential, he made it clear that he thinks the young signal-caller could be destined for greatness. In fact, Bowden compared Winston to a certain former Heisman winner and NFL quarterback -- Robert Griffin III.

Mr. Winston probably had a great deal to do with Clint Trickett transferring. He's the reason nobody at FSU is panicked about EJ moving on. If you're team is gonna get FSU, ya better do it this season. Word out of Tally is that Winston has been en fuego since setting foot on campus. Coaches are RAVING about him. Think EJ, but faster, stronger and FAR more elusive. Gun for an arm.

GO 'NOLES!

That's what I was thinking about Trickett. He saw no opportunity to play with Winston lighting it up.

How does the Noles defense look and who is the new DC?

Hard to believe a redshirt freshman will be leading the pack. Plus he could still pick BB.

Not so hard to believe when it was the top dual threat QB recruit we're talking about, though.

And even if Jameis plays baseball he's still gonna be the starting QB for the Noles this year.

Accorsing to this article Winston was the top overall QB prospect. For whatever reason I thought it was top dual threat QB.

Too lazy to look it up. Oh well.

Huh??? Apparently you aren't aware that a red-shirt freshman QB was handed the Heisman last year. And Jameis Winston has FAR more upside than Johnny Man-zeal. Yup, I said it, "jesus."

I'm a crybaby because I believe Winston has more upside than Man-zeal? How open-minded of you, sheep man.

When he's completed 3 seasons on the field, let the comparisons begin. Until then, it's just hype and blatherscape fodder. At this time, reasonable discourse would focus upon the signs of promise and what his ascension may bode for FSU.

Pardon me. Please, continue slingin' the shizzle.

Let's not turn this into a Trickett thread. ;-)

Didn't Ron Powlus receive a bunch of hype as well? Pump the brakes until he's actually played

Pump the brakes? Nah, not my job to put the brakes on Mr. Winston. We will leave that task to opposing defenses. Good luck with that.

And Ron Powlus? LMFAO! Powlus was slow and timid. Mr. Winston is neither.

If memory serves, wasn't Ponder touted mightly one year....

No. You're a crybaby because you've been going on and on and on and on and on and on and on about this topic every time a QB thread shows up here. You don't believe Manziel deserved the Heisman. We get it. Now shut the **** up about it for a while, give us all a break.
