Los Angeles Clippers begin coaching search

04:51 PM ET 05.31 | The Los Angeles Clippers have begun contacting candidates for the head coaching vacancy left after not re-signing Vinny Del Negro. The Clippers are said to be interested in Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw, Byron Scott, Jeff Van Gundy, Alvin Gentry, and Jerry Sloan. The Clippers have not set any interviews up with their list of candidates and have only begun the preliminary stages of their coaching search. Los Angeles was said to be interested in both Mike Malone and Mike Budenholzer, but both coaches have already been signed by other organizations. Sources have also indicated that Shaw is said to be very interested in the Clippers coaching vacancy.

Larry Brown was a good fit before he moved on to Indiana and Detroit. He took the Clippers to the playoffs with a much weaker line-up.

Sloan would be a total misfit. He isn't one of those guys that can be pushed around by a PG. He has a system, and everyone should play within that system.
Paul is a loud-mouth. He really wants a puppet HC, so I was really surprised he had Vinny fired. Monty Williams is his other puppet, maybe he can pry him.

Former Atlanta Hawks point guard Mookie Blaylock is on life support after a car crash in Georgia's Clayton County on Friday afternoon, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The 46-year old Blaylock was driving northbound on Tara Boulevard when he reportedly crossed into the southbound lane and collided straight on with another vehicle. Three people were injured in the accident. Blaylock is currently unresponsive at Atlanta Medical Center, while a female passenger in the second vehicle suffered internal bleeding.

If only the Lakers did not have Mike D., who would be a good fit for the Clips. And Byron Scott would be a better fit for LAL.
