Alex Smith impressing Chiefs so far

12:52 PM ET 06.01 | The Kansas City Chiefs acquired quarterback Alex Smith via trade from the San Francisco 49ers with the hope that he could help usher in a new era. After suffering a brutal 2-14 season last year, the Chiefs set out to improve the position which had been filled so inadequately by Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn. So far, Kansas City is pleased with Smith, according to The Wichita Eagle. In the OTAs, Smith has shown the leadership and poise that made him a favorite among players in San Francisco. Smith comes to the Chiefs with a playoff win under his belt - something his new franchise hasn't done since 1993 - and the former first-overall pick is impressing his quarterback coach, Matt Nagy. "I'm with him every single day," Nagy said. "Just talking X's and O's and past experiences he's had, he brings some good things to our attention as a staff. He has a lot of valuable experience. He's been through a lot. Having those experiences and coming in here to a team with a new staff, it's been an awesome experience. Throughout this process, we're taking in what he has, he's taking in what we have, and we're putting it all together and trying to make this work."

Alex Smith has been playing really well for the last two seasons.

He was putting up better passing numbers than Colin Kaepernick last year, regardless of whether the 49ers are willing to admit it.

He struggled for too many seasons earlier in his career so San Francisco was never willing to give him his due when he finally started to play well.

And I believe that Andy Reid can continue to get that kind of production out of Alex Smith going forward.

His offense fits well with Alex Smith's strengths.

Gradual improvement. They might win 6 games, but don't expect much more than that.

Preliminary predictions for the West:

1-Denver, 11-5.
2-San Diego, 8-8.
3-Oakland, 6-10.
3-Kansas City, 6-10.

The Raiders are a year away from seriously competing. They'll have another top 5 pick and have close to 60 million to spend next offseason and will make the necessary upgrades.

I agree and maybe Andy can bring Donny in to have a talk with him. ;-)

Alex Smith is replaces what set of joker QBs from last year? Exactly. He looks better than the last guys. He is solid and will help the Chiefs until he is rattled because his offensive line and weapons are much much less than San Fran has.

Youre funny He-Man!!!! Denver, KC, SD, then yours truly Raiders!!!

The 9er's couldn't wait for Smith to go down and replace him. IMHO they completely blamed him for his performance in the previous years playoff lose at home. He sucked in that game and sealed his fate.

I'm pretty sure Andy and Donny are not speaking

BTW, after Donny and Vick almost any one could impress Andy

Either way, it's an upgrade.
