02:08 PM ET 06.01 | Just hours after Vivek Ranadive and his partners officially completed the purchase of the Kings from the Maloof family, NBA commissioner David Stern revealed that the new owners must meet a series of strict deadlines for building a new arena in Sacramento. If the deadlines are blown, the NBA could pull the Kings out of Sacramento and arrange a sale to owners in another city. Stern does not expect Sacramento to miss the deadlines, but league owners insisted that this "doomsday" option be put in place just in case things fall too far behind schedule. The NBA is requesting that the new Downtown Plaza arena be open by 2017, but the Ranadive group expects the $448 million arena to be ready by 2016.

It's in the middle of BFE.

Seriously - the airport is about 10 miles northeast of downtown. The arena is the next exit down.

It's a sheitehole.

The current arena stinks and so do the Kings.

QUOTE(#10):

Never understood the T&Rs obsession with the Kings. For two years they have posted a T&R every time a big of news dribbles out about this org. Nothing about the playoffs going on but constant junk about this team nobody cares about. I wish the Kings would put the arena stuff behind them finally so we don't have to see a new T&R every time something miniscule happens.

Yeah I don't get it either.

Nothing about the playoffs. But 2 of the 5 T&Rs are pounding the stupid Kings story again. It's like the interns here are just messing with people for a laugh.

Yeah a cycle of Dwight, Kings, and D Rose is not even trying.

There is an over concentration of teams in California. Why keep screwing around? Just move the team to a city that will support them.

You would think there would be some mention of yesterday's game and the fact that the champs are one game away from elimination. The Kings and their arena is the priority in the NBA?

It's Kobe's fault bro.
