Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier won't relish competing for Rangers job

09:59 AM ET 06.02 | All quiet from the Legends Division of potential Rangers coaches, but you can bet this about Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier: Neither in the least relishes a public candidacy in which the two men are pit against one another for the job. More to the point, Gretzky's interest in returning to a significant role with an NHL team after a self-imposed four-year absence from the scene is as meaningful as his desire to go behind the Rangers' bench.

Pretty obvious why To***to didn't want him......

For Messier and Gretzky it's a complete non-story. The media will create a circus and make it look like a friendship breaker. All this to sell advertising.

I was talking to my brother the other night (who for one reason or another is a Pens fan and we are from the Philly area so obviously he is a confused individual) and said Tuukka was going to be the big factor in this series. If he is inconsistent has he has shown Beantown won't hold up but if he plays the way he did last night it will be a good series.

Shouldn't Gretz be upstairs in an exec position? Didn't he already prove being behind the bench isn't a "great" fit? Not that this is a big story as we all know the BIG hockey story right now is Modano"s engagement news. Riveting!

Well after going into hiding since the Flyers stunk it up I also left my cushy government job jump into the world of entrepreneurship and I don't exactly have the time I used to talk hockey unfortunately.

I read that every player on the Flyers is gay. And yes, I believe everything I read, especially if it's in The Onion.

He was good but so was the 'D' with the ostrich with his permissible extra long stick. (Chara)

No doubt the D was good, but IMO over the past couple match ups between these two teams the big difference has been Tuukka.

That's the kind of line you'd read in The Onion, irreverent and funny.
