07:03 AM ET 06.04 | If timing is everything, Monday was not a good day for Jonathan Gray. [Gray], the University of Oklahoma pitcher and No. 2 prospect heading into this year's MLB Rule 4 draft, tested positive for the medication Adderall during baseball's predraft drug testing program, according to multiple sources familiar with the details of Gray's test. The positive test will not result in a suspension, but will make Gray subject to additional follow-up testing once he begins his pro career, according to a source with Major League Baseball. Adderall comprises salts of two amphetamines and is banned by MLB unless the player has a valid therapeutic use exemption. Multiple sources indicated that Gray did not have a prescription for the drug.

Can you say "plunging draft prospects" for this young man?

Peter Gammons will insist that baseball has cleaned up the PED use and that this guy can be drafted without any worries

Peter Gammons must be on drugs if he believes that BS. Gray has probably just dropped from # 2 pick to maybe 2nd round if not lower. Hope it was worth it.

Whoever drafts Gray has to worry if he will do something again and lose him for 50 games. Gray will not be able to take a cough drop or an aspirin without being scrutinized.

I wouldn't be surprised if Theo Epstein still takes him for the Cubbies. 10 years ago today, Cubbie Sammy Sosa got caught corking his bat. Granted Theo wasn't the GM at the time but the Cubbies are desperate to start winning some games.

I took the advice of The Mets Trainer

He will go #1 at a greatly reduced rate for the Astros who will use the savings like they did last year.

What I'm not sure anyone is considering is that as a college student, Gray may have used Adderall as a means of studying for his finals! Of course, there have been better excuses out there than that.
