02:36 PM ET 06.04 | Despite signing a letter of intent to play at Notre Dame back in February, five-star defensive tackle prospect Eddie Vanderdoes is moving on and will play for UCLA. Notre Dame will not release Vanderdoes from his letter of intent, so he will have to transfer and sit out a year before playing for the Bruins. The exact reasons for the move aren't known, but apparently he wanted to play closer to his home in Sacramento.

When did Gundy get the coaching gig at ND?

Please tell me there aren't 2 DADB cpoach's that restrict when a player wants to move?

Kid hasn't ever put on a jock @ ND. Let him out of the letter and let him play where he wants.

IMO, no big deal!!! Quite a few players transfer and have to sit out a year!!!

Ohio State University President Gordon Gee is calling it quits.

Following the revelation of recorded remarks in which he criticized Notre Dame, Roman Catholics and the Southeastern Conference, Gee announced his retirement Tuesday through the university.

He will make his official announcement in an email to students, faculty and staff this afternoon. His retirement is effective July 1. Executive Vice President and Provost Joseph A. Alutto will be named interim president. Alutto previously served as interim president in 2007.

I really do think it just depends..They should release him from the scholly so he doesnt have to pay his own way.. But he should have to sit out since he kept ND from giving another DE/DT a scholly

Yeah, there is always, some cases where a player wouldn't/shouldn't have to sit out!!! IMO, if a coach recruits a player and then the coach decides to take a better job elsewhere, then maybe that player, shouldn't have to sit out a year. You are right, it does depend on the circumstance!!!

I'm surprised he didn't go to Cincinnati, just to show Kelly...haha!

I recall prior prediction of Vanderdoes going to UCLA, perhaps from one of our B12-2 brethren. Who called this?

Is UCLA on ND's schedule in the coming 4 or 5 years? If not, ND should release him from his LOI.

That would be me. I said I would be "shocked" if he didn't end up in Westwood.

Disagree. This screwed ND over. They lost a spot because he filled it. There's probably slim pickings left now for that spot if anyone.

I salute ND for not releasing him for this year. This sends a message. Make your decision and stick by it. If you don't there are consequences to your actions.

Jim Mora is quietly putting together a good group of players.

Quietly my eye. I would be surprised if he doesn't bring home the Pac 12 hardware this year. Hate his friggin guts.
