03:33 PM ET 06.04 | Before Paul George went through his most difficult game of the postseason, a seven-point performance before fouling out during a Game 7 loss in the Eastern Conference Finals, he said that he believes he can be in the MVP discussion, if not next year then soon after. Standing in George's way on Monday night was fittingly LeBron James, the player George must get the best of before it's his time to take a stab at the NBA's most prestigious honor. "The more and more I get comfortable in this league and the more and more I find myself, I think I am capable of achieving that award. (James) is the MVP," George said. "And as they say, to be the best you got to beat the best."

Paul George will be the new Danny Granger by the end of next season.

Ahead of Rose & Durant?
Maybe soon.

He's certainly getting arrogant all of the sudden...

I don't think so. I think the MVP, while not very likely, is more likely.

Every player is an injury away from being irrelevant.

Gain 20 lbs, develop a mid range jumper and play more consistent defense. Oh and wait for LBJ to get old or injured or piss off the voters like during Derek Roses MVP year.

Dude was balling early in the series, however, he failed to contain the King. Last night George was pedestrian. He needs to stay in the gym getting his skills inline w/ the media hype.

17.4ppg, 7.6rpg and 4apg is very good. He's the most improved player, but to be great? He needs to continue to work on his game and improve.

Try being consistent first before you can say you can be the next MVP. We've seen this kind of players before already. Rudy Gay, Danny Granger, Michael Finley, Caron Butler, Stephen Jackson, Luol Deng, etc. are more on his class...

Please stop with "the King" comments.

Who's pissed off? Sounds like your feelings are hurt because your boyfriend's streak was disrupted by a guy who likely deserved it in that year.

Its a matter of opinion so you can have yours. As for Paul George, dude got cocky and ended up scoring only 7 points. MVP in the near future? I doubt that.
