05:13 PM ET 06.04 | Lakers star Kobe Bryant said the team wants center Dwight Howard back in Los Angeles next year. But with the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks among the squads who would like to swipe the free agent big man away this summer, Bryant says his recruiting plan on Howard will be calculated. He doesn't plan on coming on too strong from the get-go. "You don't start the selling process right before he goes and does all this stuff. You want to get the last word. You want to have the final word and the closing argument. I'll give him a little opening statement, but then I have to make sure I have the final word."

Howard and Kobe don't mix well, time to move DH.

Intact Lakers can go after David West this summer and potentially get another shooter & passer like a Kevin Love.

Buss can bring back Bynum on the cheap.

Weird! Just weird! You already had the final say for about 1 year already. I wonder if it's like promising him a statue also? Fans already said they don't want him back. They've already said he can't hack it in LA. They've already said he has no offensive game. Why even ask him back when you think he has no heart and can't do anything for your team while paying him the max? Just strange! Real strange!

Kevin Love is a great rebounder, who can hit the 10/15 foot jump shot!

Why not??? If they were to trade Howard in a sign and trade and put Gasol back at Center, why wouldn't that work out. Do you really think the Lakers, are really that concerned about the Luxury tax??

Under the new CBA, it severely restricts the ability to sign free agents....IF YOUR TEAM IS OVER THE SALARY CAP. Even if they sign and trade DH, they are over the salary cap.

They can't sign CP, it's just not happening.

And Kobe knows it too! His ego is just so big, he'll never let logic or common sense come in the way.

If DH allows himself to be conned by ninja boy to play for a losing franchise while Kobe can chase MJ's scoring title he is a damm fool. Nah he is GD fool.

As I have said on many occasions ninja boy is done. He is the reason the Lakers sux. He can't guard on the perimeter and he is a ball hog volume shooter that will never allow anyone to get enough touches to develop a decent game. As long as Kobe is a Laker, we never have to worry about the Lakers being a contender.

DH should know this by now. Fool me once... yeah yeah yeah whatever Bush said.
