02:03 PM ET 06.05 | The Dallas Stars will retire Mike Modano's No. 9 next season, becoming the fourth player to have his number retired by the organization. Modano's number will join Neal Broten's No. 7, Bill Goldsworthy's No. 8 and Bill Masterton's No. 19 in the rafters at American Airlines Center, a deserved honor after spending his entire all but one year of his 21-year career with the Stars. Originally drafted by the Minnesota Northstars, Modano made the the move with the team to Dallas and is the franchise record holder in nearly every statistical category, including games, goals, assists, points and game-winning goals.

Congrats Mike. I wonder if Willa is scheming ways to be there just so she can feel an audiences applause. She'd probably faint if they gave a standing ovation

There was just always something about him for me. Dunno what.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't retire Brian Bellows jersey...who may have been the best player they had, next to Broten. It's odd that Bellows isn't in the Hall Of Fame, either. He had a more productive career than Dino Ciccarelli, who is in the HOF.

Bellows is second all-time in goals behind Modano, and third all-time behind Modano and Broten.

Well he is such a down to earth guy, He drove a Ford for many years, but now I heard he's moved up to a Caddy.

Didn't she already retire his number?

She'll have to get passed Allison Micheletti.

A mud wrestling match before the main event has huge possibilities.

She wasn't getting 9, that's why she's gone!

They were called the North Stars, not the Northstars. Everybody in the Dallas-Fortworth area knows that.

No mud wrestling but a well placed 7 Iron might be appropriate.

Funny side note... Modano mentioned during an interview this morning he has known Joe Micheletti going back to their days in Minnesota. One of the guys asked him if he knew Allison back then.

Modano said no. He added "that would be kinda seedy, wouldn't it?"

He's still my hockey hero... and he still has his sense of humor.
