Tracy McGrady to mull over retirement

04:55 PM ET 06.05 | Tracy McGrady was off in China at the beginning of this year. But with the rocky relationship between Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and forward Stephen Jackson leading to Jackon's dismissal from San Antonio and a resulting open roster spot, the former All-Star got a lucky break by joining a team that finds itself in the NBA Finals. As cushy as his bench role might be for his body that hasn't handled the miles well, McGrady could finally be ready to hang up the sneakers. Yahoo! Sports reports that McGrady will mull over his professional hoops future after the finals series. It comes at no surprise, but the story of joining a potential championship squad, no matter for how brief of a time, shouldn't be overlooked.

Mull over retirement!!!!! Dude was running (if you want to call it that) away from the ball in the Golden State series when they put him in the last few minutes. He didn't want to embarrass himself.

Not much to think about unless he just wants to steal money from someone.

When have you ever seen Tracy run from the ball? Never.....Tracy always wants the ball to shoot but had no defense!!!

In the military we had a saying called "ROAD". It stands for Retired On Active Duty. T-Mac has been ROAD for years.

JVG was claiming that TMac is a HOFer. Just for that, JVG should never be hired again as a HC lol.

Not exactly...

Van Gundy said McGrady should be a Hall of Fame player. He went on to say that McGrady was the best combination of a basketball mind and a basketball body, basically.

And I agree. McGrady should be a HoF type player. But he's not because he could never stay healthy and eventually he just faded off into complete oblivion. I grew up in SA and I'm a pretty hardcore Spurs fan. And I forgot he was even on the roster.

Dude was a waste of himself. He could've been LeBron before LeBron. Instead he's a forgettable old scorer who never won jack but did once appearin a Mike Jones rap music video.

JVG was right. McGrady should've been a lot greater than he was.

Ha ha ha ha ha I thought he was already gone.

What a situation to be in, all your playing career you have been trying to reach the final under your own admission, now you find yourself on a championship team in the Finals and your contribution have not been felt. Hopefullly, Popovich will give you some time in critical situations and allow you to be apart of this run, however, I doubt the situation will change. This is probably not the way McGrady expected to retire from the game, its unfortunate.

McGrady is more of a HOF'er than Grant Hill. If Bernard King is a HOF'er so is McGrady.
