07:18 AM ET 06.06 | Damien Brunner is excited about his future -- he's just not sure where it will take him. [Brunner] began the regular season playing alongside Henrik Zetterberg and got off to a torrid start with 10 goals in his first 19 games. That however was followed by a 15-game goal-less stretch where he found himself a healthy scratch one game during the slump. ... "It's hard for me to say," Brunner said when asked if he expected to return to Detroit. "We'll see what's coming. ... I can't say anything bad about the Detroit Red Wings," Brunner continued. "It's a first-class organization. It was a big honor to wear that sweater. I'm looking forward to the next weeks. It's going to be decision time, but I think it'll be a good time as well."

Why not? Damien Rhodes is my hero!

That's "Damian" Rhodes and not many people have backups as heros.

He did score that goal though

What are you guys talking about? Dats I get, they need to sign him to an extension...but what about the rest? One, Brunner is Swiss. Two, Zetterberg is signed long-term. I must be missing the joke.

As for Brunner...money grab? Unless he's got a buddy on another team or wants to sign with a team that is guaranteed a Cup (who's that!?), I don't get it. He's on an up and coming line. Just posturing for big contract--which your offense can call for, but your defense/turnovers does not.

Gentlemen! Gentlemen! Gentlemen! Please!

To paraphrase the legendary Mark Twain: "The report of the Detroit Red Wings demise is greatly exaggerated!"

Let's all take a deep breath, relax and see what happens.

I don't think otherwise. That's why I said "guaranteed Cup", cuz the Wings are Cup contenders. The question is how much is Ken willing to pay him. You think this is anything but posturing?

He was looking damn fine playing with Nyquist. Toss a Helm in there too....

Datsyuk is a concern but he's still good for one more year but they need to sharpen their pencils to keep him I think.

QUOTE(#13):

That's a stretch. Most Cup contenders have this thing called a "defence".

The Penguins beg to differ.

But seriously, Wings number five in the league in GA per game, most of that before DeKeyser showed up. I seem to remember a three game stretch in the series when the Blackhawks managed 2 goals, and the game 7 in which they only scored one goal in regulation. Three rookies played back there during the year. But don't let facts disrupt you.
